Okay Mother Nature, we need to chat…

Well it’s official, the days are getting longer with our clocks springing ahead one hour last night…. But nature decided to throw us a little party today by sprinkling some snow down on us today.

I had a great Daydream Weddings meeting today, and after I we were done I looked out side and couldn’t believe how much snow was falling! In a matter of two hours and wow I took some “spring” photos. (Although I know it’s not officially Spring yet!)

So let’s see what daybreak holds for us tomorrow, hopefully some sunnier skies and some warmer weather is on the way!

A new season of Top Model is starting tomorrow!

Okay so we always get excited when a new season of America or Canada’s Next Top Model starts up and that just so happens to be tomorrow night, March 4th! There will be I’m sure many cat fights, visits from Benny Ninja, fierceness, smiling with their eyes and of course the judging panel making the all important decision of who will stay in the competition, and become America’s Next Top Model!

Every Wednesday night it’s become a tradition that if you are in the area you are at my house watching the show, Cara and Nery are regulars, we’ll see who joins us this year!

Speaking of Top Model, Jen was involved with a photo shoot of a former Canadian Top model, Brandi. This was before Brandi was on the show and Jen was responsible for her makeup and styling. The photo was taken by Photex Studios. I have also worked with her in the past on many catalogue shoots, she’s a great girl and we were rooting for her when she was on the show! It was really cool seeing someone on a reality show we love to watch that we actually knew!

So put on your Jimmy Choos, your best frock, practice your runway walk and I’m sure I’ll be blogging a lot about this season, it looks like it’s going to be a good one!!

The room was cozy and Emily was so precious! Jen and Ryan are natural parents and the love they have in their eyes for their daughter melts my heart. We took our time and got some fantastic photos of Emily and her parents. Congratulations to the new Ackerman family.

Well we are used to taking wedding photos and now we’re branching out to maternity and family photos. Jen and Ryan are expecting their first child in January and in our wonderful snowfall in December we had a nice cozy photo shoot at their apartment. Now Jen is due in just a few weeks and you must agree she is looking phenomenal!! They are an amazing couple that are so excited to welcome their new addition to the world.

Put Your Best Breast Forward

Jen and friends decided to do some good this year. Creating a calendar with all net proceeds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is a great cause. Jen was the main photographer (I took the shots she was in) and she did the make-up for the girls.

I designed the calendar and we have put together an event with a silent auction that will take place this week. We’re so looking forward to it and I’ll post a bunch of photos from the event. BC Fashion Week

A week of fashion, a day of fashion or an hour, we’re there! We love the models that give a little extra something, something at the end of the runway. Vancouver Fashion Week is coming up soon!

To get that right ad, you have to have the right shot. Jen and I can do any kind of product shot to make your website, ad or promotional material memorable.

The joy of advertising

I have always understood the importance of advertising. It’s like real estate location, location, location! I have designed ads for Daydream Weddings and many more businesses. The main thing I always try to remember is that you have to reach your intended target market or you’re just throwing your money away. Also try to grab their attention, if they can stop flipping through a magazine to look at your ad, they will remember you. Good luck and let me know if you need any help.

The B.C. Lions

Jen and I have been fortunate enough to have a great relationship with the BC Lions for the last three seasons. When you’re at the next home game, look down at the sidelines and we’re two of the few women photographers on the sidelines. We both love watching the game up close and personal, had a few close calls, and we love catching the sports on the news the next day to see if we made it on TV! Yes we’re such hams!

A Grand Hello …

Well everyone, while I’m learning how to build our brand new media site, I thought I would fill you in on who we are on our blog.

Jen and I are sisters who are “Jane’s of all trades.” There’s photography, graphic design, make-up artistry, we’re learning event planning, and soon web designing. Of course there are the fun things such as world travelers, heart breakers and over all fabulous girls!

We have been in the wedding industry for six years now but we are also in may different people’s lives as well and we finally got the time to bring everything together for you under the umbrella of Blue Bird Media.
